Karin Bjerde is Head of Strategic Growth at Kognity, a Swedish EdTech company whose intelligent textbooks combine pedagogy, content, and its unique learning platform to help improve student outcomes and teacher efficacy for schools. Launched in 2015, Kognity is used by schools in over 80 countries, and recently launched GCSE aligned textbooks for the UK. Kognity, and Karin, are strong believers in the positive impact that correctly designed technology can have in education. Teachers are the school’s most valuable resource, and technology should aim to make them irreplaceable in a modern education system, empowering them to elevate the impact of their teaching on each individual student.
Karin received an international education in the US, China, and Sweden which shaped much of where life has taken her. She has a MSc in Economics from Stockholm School of Economics, and worked as a top ranked Associate at Morgan Stanley after university. However, being an IB alumni fuelled her passion for working with global education, and she chose to join Kognity and its mission to radically improve learning for the world’s 1.5 billion students through technology as one of its first employees.
Karin has been named one of the world’s 75 future global leaders by the Institute of International Education and Goldman Sachs. Karin works to leverage that by using her global mindset by helping to challenge, rethink, and ultimately improve existing norms of what the future of education is or could be.
