Mrs. Janis Rosa Greenaway is Antiguan and Barbudan by birth and grew up in the village of Liberta where she still resides. She is a graduate of the Ottos Comprehensive Secondary School. On leaving school she joined the Civil Service in 1982 where she was first employed as a Junior Clerk in the Ministry of Public Works. After acting in the post as Senior Clerk in many other Government Ministries and Departments she eventually was appointed as a Senior Clerk in the Establishment Department in 1991.
Mrs. Greenaway spent the majority of her years within the Establishment Department (Human Resource Department) where she continued to move up the ladder in the Department to the position of Senior Establishment Officer. She also had the opportunity to act as Deputy Establishment Officer and Chief Establishment Officer. Prior to leaving the Establishment Department Mrs. Greenaway held the position as Human Resource Development Coordinator, a position that was created to champion the process of the modernization of the Public Sector. In a short while Mrs. Greenaway was then transferred to hold the position of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology effective May, 2015. She has over thirty years of experience in the Public Sector with most of her years spent in the Human Resource Department.
Mrs. Greenaway holds an Associate’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of the West Indies, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Management from the Monroe College and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management and Training from the University of Leicester. She has attended many Local, Regional and International workshops in the Management and Leadership Development Programme and is a cohort of the Caribbean Leadership Programme. Since been at the Ministry of Education Mrs. Greenaway has represented the Ministry at numerous Educational forums to include meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences. Most recently, she completed a Diploma programme in Public Management at the University of Chile.
Over the years, Mrs. Greenaway has encouraged and motivated many who have come through her path not to settle for mediocrity, but to uplift and upgrade themselves. She is all about what’s best for the other person. She is a Christian, a family oriented person, with a wonderful husband and three lovely children, two boys and one girl. According to Frank Lloyd Wright “You have to go wholeheartedly into anything in order to achieve anything worth having. Mrs. Janis Rosa Greenaway certainly did achieve.
