Kara is currently the Global Head of Learning for BBC Studios in New York. Since joining the BBC Studios team in October of 2015, Kara has more than doubled the size of the business and led the efforts to create strategic partnerships that will bring all of BBC’s award winning natural history content, documentaries and more to the K-12 and higher education communities.
Over the past three years, BBC Learning has developed global partnerships with Microsoft Education, Leapfrog, Tynker, StemScopes, Infobase, ProQuest and other leaders in the global education space. Each partnership is focused on a specific program in a defined content area and grade range to maximize resources and ensure a targeted delivery of BBC Learning’s resources.
Prior to joining the BBC, Kara was the Vice President of Channel Marketing at Scholastic, Inc. where she oversaw the development and execution of all print and digital marketing initiatives, including national exhibits planning for over 20 premium education products.
In her role, Kara played an integral part in the development and launch of READ 180 – a leading software for literacy intervention. She managed more than 10 launches into the education marketplace for acclaimed programs such as System 44, READ 180 Next Generation, iRead, Math 180, FASTT Math and more.
Prior to that, Kara spent 10 years managing the development of catalogs, promotions and merchandising initiatives and has received several awards and recognitions for her outstanding websites and print designs. She is a strategic, creative leader who has the ability to maximize resources and manage processes effectively. Kara’s passion and commitment is reflected not only at the office, but in her personal life as well. She is an active runner and is married to Paul for over 23 years and a mother to two fantastic girls who are currently enjoying their college years.
